The Comedy Festival
Melbourne, Australia --- the comedy capital. Every autumn this enticing
city becomes the center of funny stories. Autumn season is known to
break the silence of the Melbourne breeze because it is that time of the
year when the annual Melbourne International Comedy Festival launch,
making the winds of Melbourne seem like a whisper of giggles and
laughter.
The Comedy Festival is an annual event which originally kicks-off every
April 1st (April fool’s day, makes sense, right?) but now typically
starts mid to late March. It is a three-week long event that platforms
world class comedians. Patrons can indulge in the vast selection of
shows from artistic locals and even brilliant international comics. You
can just enjoy a chill stand-up comedy or if you want to experience more
than that there are some theatre, and even visual arts. Now, that is a
feast of amusement, but, the main event of this three-week spectacle is
the Comedy Festival Gala and the Opening Night Super Show. You might
want to secure a seat weeks prior to the start before they ran out.
The festival’s over 200 shows does not merely showcase the ability of
the comics to make even the hardest crowd giggle but it is also a ground
to build their reputation and an avenue for amateur
comedians to hone their skills. The most esteemed reward that a comic
could get a hold of at this event is the Barry Award which is endowed to
the most stupendous show of the festival. In addition all year round
events are sponsored by the festival’s organisation that aims to broaden
the knowledge of the aspiring comedians about the trade. Such shows to
watch out for are the Class Clowns and Deadly
Funny. So don’t you worry if you miss the main act you’ll always get a
taste of the fun anytime of the year.
You would expect that a big event showcasing the cream of the crop among
humorist would be a pocket-ripper just to get in, you got that wrong. In
fact, with just a few dollars to spare you could get to
have a rocketing night and you get to take home a few jokes that you
could crack up with friends and even pick-up lines for the ladies (you
know what that means). So call out friends (even the stone-faced)
and be captured by the awesome experience. It is a guarantee that
everyone would end up having a stomachache, not due to bad food, but
with laughing your heart out at those witty but hilarious punch
lines. So if you seem to notice that the autumn breeze seems to make you
shiver, get up and join the warmth of laughter that the festival brings.
